Swapiy privacy policy

Swapiy is an app for buying and swapping items through private Offers. This policy says what personal data Swapiy collects, why, who can see it, how long it is kept, and what you can do about it.

Who we are

The Swapiy app and swapiy.com are provided by Swapiy Marketplace (Dubai, United Arab Emirates) (“we”), who is responsible for your personal data. Write to us about privacy at privacy@swapiy.com.

What we collect

• Your account: your email address, your password (we keep only a secure hash of it), the name you show, the app's language and your Country; and, if you add them, your City, phone number and profile description.
• What you post and do: your Listings (title, description, price, condition, category, Country and City, photos); the messages, Offers and Deals between you and other members; your Favorites; the Reports you make; and the Feedback you send us. The app removes location data from photos before uploading them.
• Notifications: what happened (for example a new Offer) and which Listing, Conversation or Deal it is about. If you allow notifications, your phone's notification token from Google Firebase.
• Technical data: your IP address, which we use for at most an hour to limit repeated attempts such as many wrong passwords, and server records, which can contain your email address when we send you an email.
• Only on your phone: your sign-in, encrypted; the last 30 Listings you looked at; and your settings (language, Country, theme). We don't receive these, except that the categories you look at most are sent with the request that picks Listings “For you”, and are not stored.

We don't collect your GPS location, contacts, advertising identifiers or payment details. The app has no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting tools. Swapiy takes no part in payments.

Why we use it

• to run your account and sign you in;
• to show your Listings, deliver your messages and Offers, and record your Deals;
• to email you codes to reset your password or confirm your email address, and to tell you about new and accepted Offers and completed Deals;
• to send notifications to your phone, if you allow them;
• to keep Swapiy safe, by limiting repeated attempts and reviewing reports;
• to answer your Feedback and support requests.

We use your data to provide the service you signed up for, for our legitimate interest in keeping it safe, and where the law requires it. We don't sell your data and don't use it for advertising.

Who can see it

• Anyone, even without an account: your active Listings, with their photos, description, price, Country and City. Listing photos can be opened by anyone who has their link.
• Anyone can also see your Member profile: the name you show, your profile description, the month you joined, whether your email address is verified, and your active Listings. Your City is not shown there.
• Members you deal with see the messages, Offers and Deals between you.
• Your email address and phone number are not shown to other members.
• If you report a member from your Conversation with them, the Swapiy team can read that Conversation to handle your Report, and the same applies to a Conversation in which you are reported. The team reads no other Conversation.
• Swapiy's administrators see Reports with who made them, and the Feedback you send with your name and email address.

Service providers

• Our servers are hosted by dedicated European cloud infrastructure (Germany / EU).
• Our emails are delivered by Swapiy Mail (mail.swapiy.com).
• Google Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers notifications to your phone, if you allow them. A notification carries only a short generic text and the identifiers of what it is about, never your messages.
• The Android APK is distributed directly from swapiy.com.
• The swapiy.com website loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address.

These providers may process data in countries other than yours, under their own safeguards.

How long we keep it

• Your account data, until you delete your account.
• When you delete your account, your name, email address, phone, profile description, Country, City and password are erased at once; your Favorites, notifications, notification registrations and Feedback are deleted; your pending Offers are withdrawn; and you are signed out everywhere.
• Your Listings are taken down and no longer shown to anyone; their text and photos stay in our storage. The Conversations, messages, Offers and Deals you had with other members stay with them, and the Reports you made stay with the Swapiy team; in both you appear as “Deleted user”.
• Backups can hold deleted data for up to 14 days.
• IP addresses used to limit attempts: at most an hour. Codes sent by email expire after 15 minutes. A sign-in left unused ends after 7 days. Server records: up to 90 days.

Your choices and rights

• See and change your profile in the app, under Account → Profile and location.
• Turn notifications off in your phone's settings at any time.
• Delete your account in the app (Account → Delete account) or at swapiy.com/delete-account.
• Ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to stop a use of it, by writing to privacy@swapiy.com. We answer within 30 days.
• Complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Security

Connections to Swapiy are encrypted. Passwords, codes and sign-in tokens are stored only as hashes, and on your phone your sign-in is encrypted with the phone's keystore. Our database is not reachable from the internet. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data, we will tell you as the law requires.

Children

Swapiy is not meant for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect children's data.

Changes

When this policy changes, we post the new version here with a new date.
